After takeoff you can: 


Remain on a certain heading


Method


Enter the desired heading in the heading input field of the AP panel by either 


  • clicking into the field and using the mouse wheel to alter the values or 
  • use the up/down indicators right of the input field or 
  • click into the input field, enter the desired value with the keyboard and press the return key


Press the HDG button 


Result: 


The aircraft will turn into the selected heading



Fly towards a NAV target


Method: 


Select a NAV target by either 


  • open the quickselect menu and select a VOR, NDB or GPS FIX nearby (range approx. 300 nm)  
  • click on a specific NAV target on the EFIS
  • type a select command into the text input field of the AP panel


Press the NAV button 


Result: 


The selected NAV target will show up in the target name display field of the APpanel. 

The bearing to the NAV target and the distance to the target will be displayed in the respective target information fields on the AP panel.  

The aircraft will turn into the heading towards the NAV target.After reaching the target, the aircraft will begin to circle around the target until fuel is empty. 


CAVEAT: 

The farselect command does not work with NAV targets, because there may be identically named NAV targets in certain regions of the world. 

Please use a farselect command to fly to a distant airport (see below) first.

Approximately 300 nm inbound your destination you will be able to select the NAV targets around that airport.  



Fly to an airport


Method


Select an airport by either 


  • open the quickselect menu and select an airport from the menu list of the "airports" or "near airports"  or 
  • click on a specific airport on the EFIS or 
  • type a select command into the text input field of the AP panel. You will need to know the ICAO code of that specific airport. 
    Example: Flying in the area of Munich, "select EDMA" will define Augsburg airport as your target. 


Press the NAV button 


Result


The aircraft will turn into the heading towards the airport. After reaching the target, the aircraft will begin to circle around the target until fuel is empty. 


CAVEAT: This method has an upper range of approx 400 km. If airport is located more distally, a "target not found" error will be displayed. Use the farselect command instead (see below) 



Fly to distant airport (worldwide) 


Method


Select any airport of FSX by either 


  • type a farselect command into the text input field of the AP panel. You will need to know the ICAO code of that specific airport. 
    Example: Flying in the area of Munich, "farselect KJFK" will define New York JFK airport as your target. 


Press the NAV button 


Result


The aircraft will turn into the heading towards the airport. After reaching the target, the aircraft will begin to circle around the target until fuel is empty. 


CAVEAT: This method has no upper range. The farselect command can be used with airports only. 

 


Climbing to a certain altitude 


Method


Enter the desired altitude into the altitude input field of the AP panel and the desired climb / sink rate into the climb rate input field of the AP panel by either 


  • clicking into the field and using the mouse wheel to alter the values or 
  • use the up/down indicators right of the input field or 
  • click into the input field, enter the desired value with the keyboard and press the return key


Press the ALT button, the VS button, the LVL button.  


Result


The aircraft will climb / sink to the specified altitude. After reaching the altitude, the aircraft will level out at that altitude. 


CAVEAT: This method has no upper or lower range. It is the responsibility of the pilot to choose the correct altitudes. 

 


Setting indicated airspeed 


Method


Enter the desired speed into the speed input field of the AP panel by either 


  • clicking into the field and using the mouse wheel to alter the values or 
  • use the up/down indicators right of the input field or 
  • click into the input field, enter the desired value with the keyboard and press the return key


Press the SPD button.  


Result


The aircraft will increase / decrease indicated airspeed to the specified speed. After reaching the speed, the aircraft will maintain that speed. 


CAVEAT: This method has no upper or lower range. It is the responsibility of the pilot to choose the correct speeds.


  

Setting mach speed 


Method


Press the MCH button FIRST !


Enter the desired Mach speed into the speed input field of the AP panel by either 


  • clicking into the field and using the mouse wheel to alter the values or 
  • use the up/down indicators right of the input field or 
  • click into the input field, enter the desired value with the keyboard and press the return key



Result


The aircraft will increase / decrease indicated airspeed to the specified mach speed. After reaching the speed, the aircraft will maintain that speed. 


CAVEAT: This method has no upper or lower range. It is only useful in jets or turboprops and the aircraft should generally be higher than 18.000 feet. 

It is the responsibility of the pilot to choose the correct speeds.
